As a guide: smooth, steady loads (light conveyors, centrifugal pumps) are fine near 1.0; moderate loads (heavier conveyors, packing machines) deserve 1.3 or more; heavy duty (mixers, bucket elevators, frequent starts, long running hours) should sit at 1.5–2.0. \u003cstrong\u003eIf the service factor turns red\u003c\/strong\u003e after you pick a motor, that combination is below 1.0 — the motor can overload the gearbox in continuous use.
