CH-G D 353 Shaft Mounted Gear Unit (Ø35 mm hollow output shaft)

Cast Iron Gearboxes CH-G

CH-G D 353 parallel shaft mounted gear unit — Chiaravalli's cast iron series: three-stage, size 35, ratios 81.25:1 to 267.38:1. Hollow output shaft Ø35 mm H7 (D version; the M version has a solid shaft). Made to order: the catalogue lists every D/M version (B14 or B5 flange, KS shrink disc, LT rubber buffer, Ç fixing element, M solid shaft) as available on request — ask us for the lead time. Backstop device available on request (specify the free direction of rotation). PAM motor input for IEC 71, 80, 90 motors.

Supplied without motor. You are choosing the gear unit with its PAM motor adapter — ask us to quote a suitable motor together with it if you'd like both.

How to pick from the table: with a standard 4-pole motor (1400 r/min) the ratio sets the output speed — e.g. ratio 267.38:1 gives 5 r/min at the output shaft. Each row shows the catalogue's maximum output torque (M2max at service factor 1) and the largest 4-pole motor that reaches it (P1max, 0.34 to 1.13 kW on this size). Choose the row whose output speed and torque match your application, then the flange that matches your motor (the frame size is on the motor's nameplate — only the frames the catalogue lists for that ratio are offered). The Motor column lists the 4-pole motors that fit that flange — pick yours and the output torque and service factor update to match. FR1 / FR2 are the permissible radial loads on the input and output shafts. More in the Selection Guide tab below.

Mounting position M1 is standard — specify yours when ordering (see the mounting-positions image). Cast iron housing.

Product Information

Motor pole count

All table figures assume a 4-pole motor (1400 r/min input) — the standard choice for most applications. A 2-pole motor (2800 r/min) doubles the output speed and a 6-pole motor (900 r/min) reduces it, and the power and torque ratings change with them — if you're running anything other than 4-pole, contact us and we'll size it for you.

Service factor — the number that decides how long your gearbox lives

It's the safety margin between what the gearbox can handle and what the motor asks of it: 1.0 means the gearbox works exactly at its rated limit (the catalogue's M2max); higher means reserve capacity — a cooler, quieter drive and a much longer life. As a guide: smooth, steady loads (light conveyors, centrifugal pumps) are fine near 1.0; moderate loads (heavier conveyors, packing machines) deserve 1.3 or more; heavy duty (mixers, bucket elevators, frequent starts, long running hours) should sit at 1.5–2.0.

If the service factor turns red after you pick a motor, that combination is below 1.0 — the motor can overload the gearbox in continuous use. It may be acceptable for light, intermittent duty, but for anything continuous choose a smaller motor, a different ratio, or the next gearbox size up — or ask us and we'll size it with you.

Radial loads

FR1 is the permissible radial load on the input shaft and FR2 on the output shaft (kN, applied at the shaft centre). Chain sprockets, belt pulleys and gears on the shaft all load it radially — check the figure against your drive, and ask us if your load is close to it. The catalogue also limits peak loads to 200 % of the nominal torque.
