CHA 45/2/45 Shaft Mounted Speed Reducer (Ø45 mm hollow output shaft)

Shaft Mounted Speed Reducers CHA

CHA 45/2/45 shaft mounted speed reducer — Chiaravalli's pendular gear unit, made for belt conveyors: size 45, two-stage, ratios 10:1 to 30:1, hollow output shaft Ø45 mm G7, keyway 14 mm wide (BB), 48.8 mm bore-to-key height (BH). Solid input shaft Ø28 mm, key 8 mm wide (DB), 31 mm shaft-to-key height (DH). GG20 painted cast iron case, ground 21NiCrMo2 gears — high efficiency, low noise, easy mounting. A backstop device can be fitted on request so the conveyor cannot run back on an incline (state the free direction of rotation when ordering). A torque tension arm (M12 rod, length 210–310 mm) is available for this size — see the torque arm sheet.

Supplied without oil. Oil-bath lubrication; fill about 3.6 l of ISO VG 150 to 460 oil by load type and ambient temperature (the catalogue's viscosity table — mineral or synthetic) and set the plugs for your mounting position A, B, C, D, VA or VB (see the mounting-positions sheet). Weight 38 kg.

How to pick from the table: the ratio sets the output speed — at 1400 r/min input, ratio 10:1 gives 140 r/min at the hollow shaft. Choose the row whose output speed and rated torque Mn2 cover your conveyor's needs (with a service factor for the load — see the Selection Guide tab), check that your motor's power does not exceed Pn1 and that the belt or chain pull on the input shaft stays within Rn1. Running a 6-pole or 8-pole motor? Press the 900 or 500 r/min toggle for those figures. Other ratios on request.

Product Information

Reading the table

The catalogue rates each ratio at three input speeds. The main columns are for a 1400 r/min input (a 4-pole motor): the output speed, the rated output torque Mn2, the input power Pn1 the unit accepts and the radial load Rn1 the input shaft can carry. Press "Show 900 r/min input figures" or "Show 500 r/min input figures" for 6-pole and 8-pole drives. Other ratios are available on request.

Service factor

Mn2 is the rated torque for a uniform load. Pick the unit so that Mn2 covers your required torque times the service factor for your load type and running hours — the catalogue's load-type table (p124) gives the factor, from uniform duty (light conveyors, centrifugal pumps) up to heavy, shock-loaded duty. Ask us if you'd like us to size it with you.

Radial load on the input shaft

A pulley or sprocket on the input shaft loads it radially: FR = 2000 · T · f / D, with T the torque in Nm, D the pulley or sprocket diameter in mm and f the transmission factor — 1.15 for a gear, 1.4 for a chain sprocket, 1.75 for a V-belt pulley, 2.5 for a flat-belt pulley. FR must stay within Rn1 for the ratio and input speed you run.

Backstop

All sizes except CHA 30 can be supplied with a backstop device so the drive cannot run back on an inclined conveyor. It is fitted to order — state the free direction of rotation when ordering.
