CHT 280 three-phase cast iron motor — Chiaravalli's IEC frame 280 cast iron motors in the IE3 / IE4 efficiency classes, 2 / 4 / 6-pole, 45–90 kW. Cast iron casing, IP54, class F insulation, IC411 fan cooling, Δ/Y 400/690 V 50 Hz. Mounting B3, B5 or B35 — the dimension sheets give the frame 280 mounting dimensions per efficiency class.

How to pick from the table: choose the pole count for the speed you need, then the power and the efficiency class — IE3 or IE4 (we supply IE3 and above only from 0.75 kW up; IE4 where the energy saving pays). The type letter is the motor's length designation within the frame. Forced-cooling fan kits for inverter duty are available for every frame (catalogue p8).

Reading the table

Each row is one motor of this frame size: the type letter and pole count (a 4-pole motor runs at about 1500 r/min on 50 Hz, 2-pole about 3000, 6-pole about 1000), the efficiency class, rated power, speed, rated torque, current at 400 V, efficiency and power factor. "Show starting and part-load data" adds the starting torque and current ratios (Ms/Mn, Mmax/Mn, Is/In), the rotor inertia J0 and, for IE3 / IE4 motors, the efficiency at 75 % and 50 % load.

Efficiency classes

From January 2017 the EU regulation (CE) 640/2009 requires motors of 0.75 to 375 kW with 2, 4 or 6 poles sold in the European market to be at least IE3. Nusaf supplies IE3 and above only from 0.75 kW up — IE1 motors are listed below 0.75 kW only. Efficiency figures follow IEC 60034-30 / 60034-2-1.

Fitting to a gearbox

The frame size is the IEC size the gearbox flange is specified by — a gearbox listed for "IEC 80" takes a frame 80 motor in B5 or B14. Mounting B3 (foot), B5 (flange) and B14 (face flange) dimensions are on the dimension sheets.
