CHV 50 Mechanical Speed Variator (3–4 kW)
CHV 50 mechanical speed variator — Chiaravalli's oil-bath variator line: output speed adjustable over a 1:5 range by handwheel, smooth and silent running, torque rising at low speed, high efficiency, compact, with B5 input and output flanges. RAL 9022 grey painted. Matched to a 4-pole 230/400 V 50 Hz motor of 3–4 kW; output shaft Ø28 mm j6, key 8 mm wide (b), 33 mm shaft-to-key height (t). Mounting B5, V1 or V3 and terminal box position 1–4 are part of the designation — state them when ordering. Weight 57 kg.
Complete unit with motor. The catalogue designation is the variator with its 4-pole motor; it can also be supplied without motor for a motor of your own (standard quality class, flange B5) — tell us which you need.
Lubrication: supplied with oil for B5 (1.2 kg); V1 needs 2.15 kg and V3 1.3 kg (ATF Dexron). Closed oil plugs are fitted — swap in the breather plug for continuous work. A gravitational speed indicator for the handwheel is an optional accessory.

Reading the table
A mechanical variator lets you set the output speed anywhere in a 1:5 range by turning the handwheel. Each row is the variator matched to a 4-pole motor of the stated power: the output speed range it covers and the output torque at the two ends of that range — torque rises as you slow the output down, so the first torque figure applies at the minimum speed and the second at the maximum.
Mounting and oil
Three mounting positions: B5 (horizontal, standard), V1 and V3 (vertical). The unit comes with oil for B5; for V1 or V3 top it up to the quantity in the description (ATF Dexron — Agip, Esso, Shell or BP). It ships with closed oil plugs: for continuous running fit the breather plug supplied. Change the oil after the running-in period and check the level from time to time; the housing can run 50–55 °C above room temperature.
Handling
Never turn the handwheel while the motor is stopped — that can break the variator internally — and leave the screws under the handwheel as set. The optional gravitational indicator in the handwheel shows a speed reference (not usable with a vertical handwheel axis); sizes 02, 05 and 10 can take a feet kit.
